Verrutop Verruca Treatment

What is Verrutop?

Verrutop is a professional, non-invasive treatment for verrucae (plantar warts) that works by chemically desiccating the infected tissue, allowing the verruca to dry out and gradually slough away. Unlike cryotherapy or needling, Verrutop causes no pain, no need for local anaesthetic, and no scarring — making it an excellent choice for adults and children alike.

What Does the Treatment Involve?

During your appointment, your podiatrist will:

  1. Assess the area to confirm the presence and depth of the verruca and to rule out other skin conditions.
  2. Gently debride (pare down) any overlying hard skin or callus to expose the viral tissue.
  3. Apply Verrutop solution directly to the verruca using a fine applicator. The solution causes a mild chemical reaction that dries out and breaks down the infected tissue.
  4. Allow the area to dry, leaving a light white or yellow surface film. A dressing may be applied if needed.

Each application takes just a few minutes, and the treatment is typically repeated every 1–2 weeks until the verruca resolves. Most patients require 3–6 sessions, depending on the size and duration of the lesion.
